OraForm RT™ Tongue Positioning System

Patient-Specific intraoral positioning for head & neck radiotherapy

OraForm RT™ is a patient-specific intraoral tongue positioning system designed to support reproducible tongue positioning during head and neck radiation therapy.

The system combines secure dual-arch dental fit, four dedicated tongue-positioning configurations, controlled EVA activation, and recordable three-axis positioning adjustments to help clinicians establish and reproduce the planned intraoral geometry.

OraForm RT™ provides four tongue-positioning options:

Expand beyond lateralization and depression with elevation and posterior options.

OraForm - Tongue positioning Depression

Tongue Depression - TP

Presses the tongue downward

OraForm - Tongue Positioning Lateral

Lateral Tongue Positioning - LP

Moves the tongue left or right

OraForm - Tongue Positioning Elevation

Vertical Tongue Positioning - VP

Elevates the tongue

OraForm - Tongue Positioning Retraction

Tongue Retraction - RP

Moves the tongue posteriorly

A Complete, Dedicated Oral Positioning System

OraForm™ brings together the components required for a controlled, repeatable intraoral positioning workflow.

These features create a defined workflow from patient-specific fitting through treatment setup and verification.

The system combines:

Secure Custom Fit

Upper and lower EVA impressions conform to the patient’s individual dentition. The assembled jaw supports and rotation guide maintain the selected geometry.

Four Tongue Position Options

Dedicated configurations support depression, lateralization, elevation, and retraction of the tongue.

Controlled Activation

A dedicated activation heater uses preset, component-specific conditions for the EVA jaw impressions and tongue-positioner head.

Recordable Positioning

Three-axis settings allow clinicians to document and reproduce the selected geometry:
Secure Custom Fit

Designed for Head & Neck Radiation Therapy

From patient fit to treatment verification, OraForm™ is designed around a clinician-guided workflow

This gives the clinical team a documented positioning geometry that can be referenced throughout the treatment course.
Oraform RT Options for tongue placement

1. Select

Select the appropriate tongue-positioning configuration based on the planned tongue displacement: depression, lateral, elevation, or retraction.

2. Configure

Set the desired insertion depth, yaw, and roll. Assemble the guide and dual-arch jaw supports.

3. Activate

Use the dedicated OraForm RT™ activation heater with the appropriate preset for the jaw impressions and tongue-positioner head.

4. Form

Create the patient-specific fit using the activated EVA components.

5. Verify

Confirm fit and comfort, then record the tongue-positioner type and selected depth, yaw, and roll settings.

Patient-Specific Fit

Secure Dual-Arch Positioning

OraForm RT™ uses upper and lower EVA impressions to conform to the patient’s dentition.

The patient-specific dual-arch fit provides a secure foundation for the selected tongue position, while the jaw supports and rotation guide maintain the configured geometry.

This approach connects patient-specific oral anatomy, planned tongue positioning, and repeatable treatment setup within a single system.

Safety & Workflow Controls

OraForm RT™ incorporates several features intended to support a controlled clinical workflow.

Purpose-Built Preparation

Dedicated activation presets, displayed states, and completion alarm support the preparation process.

MR Safe & CT Ready

The sell sheet identifies the non-powered intraoral device as MR Safe and CT ready, with no CT HU calibration required.

Verify Before Use

The workflow calls for confirmation of component integrity, engagement, fit, patient comfort, and recorded positioning settings before use.

Dedicated Activation Heater

Controlled. Preset. Purpose-Built.

OraForm RT™ includes a dedicated activation heater designed specifically for the system’s EVA components.

OraForm Dedicated Activation Heater

Component-specific programs support a consistent preparation process:

The heater provides displayed states and a completion alarm as part of the preparation workflow.

Published Clinical Evidence

PLOS ONE - 2023

52-patient geometric and dosimetric evaluation investigated tongue positioning and reported minimized interfractional variations in tongue position and shape.

The published evaluation reported:

0.77

Mean DSC | F27

2.25 mm

Max AHD | F27

The authors concluded that the device minimized interfractional variations in tongue position and shape.
